Hi guys! Yes, today I am sharing another traveler's notebook layout for you! This one is from my Favorite Things notebook and is all about a new dessert we tried recently. I have used the Gossamer Blue Traveler's Notebook and Life Pages kits for this layout. Enjoy!
You guys, I am just loving these traveler's notebooks! There is something so easy and airy about them, they are perfect in the summer time and I can't stop creating! Here is a look at the layout I am sharing today.
So for Memorial Day I decided we should have a special dessert with dinner, and I had been wanting to try a bundt cake. So that is what we did. I started with this recipe from King Arthur Flour but made a few changes to it. Alan has some egg sensitivites - he can eat a little if they are cooked in a cake, but the original recipe called for SIX eggs so we cut that in half and added Greek yogurt to make up for three eggs. We substituted 1 c. Greek yogurt and also added a tiny bit more milk than the original recipe calls for.
Now, a disclaimer: bundt cakes are not supposed to be sweet, and they are certainly not pound cake, so the flavor will be a bit different than what you might expect. We added strawberries and a really fun whipped topping to make it sweet and delicious for summer. Here is the recipe for the topping. It's an old family recipe that my grandmother passed down to us!
1 c. heavy whipping cream, beat in stand mixer until peaks form
1 c. sugar or confectioner's sugar
1 pkg. cream cheese, softened
Stir all together until it's thick and spreadable and delicious! Serve on top of fruit or any kind of baked goods.
So, back to the layout. The green acrylic ampersand is from one of last year's Gossamer Blue kits, it was not included in these kits in May. It was perfect for my title work! I used one of the Life Pages journal cards for my journaling here and added one of the tiny enamel butterflies. Those are so adorable!!
On the right side I started with one of the patterned papers and added some stamping around the page. The yellow strip along the edge became the home base for my embellishments, and then this page is done!
That is all for today! See you back here again soon!
