Hi there and welcome to a brand new series on my blog called The Simple Planner! I'm so excited to jump into this area of papercrafting and have actually been prepping and planning for a while. My concept going into this is probably a bit unique: I see so many beautiful but elaborate planner pages and my honest thought is that I hate to put all those supplies to use for just one week. But I also love using my planner every week, and I also know that seeing pages that we love can help inspire us creatively in all our other areas of life. So I bit the bullet and am now embellishing my planner pages. But one small caveat: I am doing it simply. Take a look:
So to begin with, I took all of January's calendar pages and sprayed them with a few of my favorite stencils and spray mists. So each page starts with a very understated, simple pattern of color!
I added a gold glitter tape across the top, to add a bit of stability to the pages and for a bit of bling.
For the heading and for the dates I used Heidi Swapp's date stamp.
So that I can keep up with what week I'm on for Project Life, I added a label and the Week 4.
Then I plan to use my dashboard for my To-Do list. Mainly I use this to list my upcoming blog posts and videos.
I also added a shaped tab to the dashboard, so I know easily where I'm at in the planner. That is a label from Fancy Pants that is stapled into an Avery tab directly onto the transparency. Of course you know I had to have a transparent element in here somewhere!
So let me know in the comments what you think about this way of embellishing your planner, ok? I think this is a lot of fun and gives me a creative outlet that doesn't carry the pressure of photos with it. And isn't having fun the whole point?
See you soon,
**The stamp set I have used in this planner layout is a previously discontinued one that came in one of my Gossamer Blue kits in the past. Also, all of the Heidi Swapp products with the exception of the glitter tape were part of the January Gossamer Blue Main Kit and Life Pages Kit.
