This layout began with the tag cut out sheets from Crate Paper Happy Haunting and Pebbles Spooky collections. I have done quite a few layouts like this in the past and have seen many other designers do this style of cascading elements on the page. Tags lend themselves perfectly to this design, so I cut out all that I had, plus I added other tags and banners from the die cuts and chipboard elements too.

When I start a page like this, I typically lay everything out before adhering anything down. This way I can make sure colors are spread across the layout and that it all sort of fits. Then when I go to adhere, I just place the adhesive on the back top of each element, so other things can be slid underneath. This page has so much visual interest and so many happy things to look at!

When making a page like this, of course you still want your photo to stand out. There are a couple of ways to accomplish this: I cut my photo out using the largest tag from my collections, so the photo takes prominence from being the biggest thing here. I placed the photo at the bottom, and added the page title beneath it, so your eye goes right there. The bright orange of the tag helps too! The journaling tucks in right beside the photo, which makes that easy to find as well.

Tags are a magical component of scrapbooking, aren’t they? I added just a few tiny chipboard and puffy pieces to a few of the tags around the page. I also had so much fun using the little cat girl from Crate Paper! She is adorable! Whenever you are adding embellishments to pages like this, remember to use contrast to make decisions of what to put where. Notice on orange tags, I used black stickers. On the black tags, I used glitter stickers. That way your eye catches those details easier!
